The proposed project involves the installation of a new bridge spanning 388 feet in length and 62.5 feet in width. The alignment of the new bridge generally mirrors that of the existing structure, with the north edge of the new bridge extending approximately 13feet beyond the current structure. Significantly, the new bridge will reduce the number of spans and columns, halving the existing count. This enhancement aims to improve the conveyance capacity of the creek, with five spans and two columns per bent (ranging from 8 to 10 feet in diameter) proposed, totaling eight columns.
The structure is designed to accommodate one 12-foot traffic lane in each direction alongside a 6-foot Class 1 bicycle path and a 5-foot sidewalk on both sides. By integrating modern design elements and optimizing structural efficiency, the new BonAir Road Bridge will enhance traffic flow and prioritize pedestrian and cyclist safety, contributing to the overall improvement of transportation infrastructure in the area.
